We publish six books a year and pay half the cover price to the person who wrote them
Epilogue is two editors in Kingston. Every title is edited line by line, printed here, and sold at a price the author sees half of. That last number is on every book page because almost nobody else in publishing will print theirs.
The list
See everythingHalf the cover price goes to the author, and we publish the arithmetic
The industry standard is eight to twelve per cent of net receipts, a number written to be hard to check. Ours is half of what you pay, calculated on the price on the cover.
A paperback at twenty-two dollars pays its author eleven. Printing takes about four and a half, the shop takes its cut where a shop is involved, and what is left runs the press. It is a smaller press than it would otherwise be and that is the whole trade-off: fewer titles, edited properly, with the writer paid first. The full breakdown for every title is on its page, including the ones where we lost money.

Eight weeks and a real reply, with two paragraphs about my manuscript.
Six books a year means long waits between titles. Worth it.
The poetry is sewn so it lies flat. Somebody here thinks about reading.
They told me overseas postage was cheaper from a retailer. It was.
The boxed set slipcase is plain to the point of severe. I like it.
Readings are free, thirty seats, and they start on time.
